The Devils wore this patch for one game after the retirement ceremony for Scott Steven´s #4.
Stevens was drafted by the Washington Capitals as the 5th overall pick in the 1982 NHL Entry Draft and spent eight seasons with the Capitals.
After one season (1990/91) with the St. Louis Blues, Scott Stevens was sent to the New Jersey Devils in exchange for Brendan Shanahan after an arbitrator ruled because both teams cannot come to an agreement.
Scott Stevens was the leader and captain of the Devils, played 13 seasons with the Devils and won 3 Stanely Cup Trophies. He had 1635 NHL reguar games and 233 NHL playoff games.
He won the Conn Smythe Trophy in 2000 as the playoff´s MVP and played in 13 NHL All-Star Games.
