Winter Classic 2009 |

Gameworn on January 1st, 2009. | |
The second NHL Winter Classic outdoor game was played in Chicago at the
Wrigley Field, home of the Chicago Cubs, between Detroit and Chicago; Detroit
won 6-4. Both teams wore vintage jerseys with the Winter Classic 2009 patch on it for this spectacular event: The Blackhawks wore black uniforms with the design from 1936–37 and the chest crest from 1937–38 and the Red Wings played in a version of the sweaters worn by the Detroit Cougars in 1926–27 but with the Wings "Winged Wheel" logo on the shoulders. The success of this game obliged the NHL to solidify "The Winter Classic" an annual event. |
