NHL Winter Classic 2008

This first "Winter Classic" outdoor game was played on New Years Day at the Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres; and the Pens won 2-1 in this shoot-out game
The teams wore vintage jerseys for the event, with the Penguins wearing powder blue jerseys for the first time since 1980 and the Sabres will be wearing their 1970's style white jerseys. In addition, the goaltenders will also dress in vintage style, with Ty Conklin and Ryan Miller wearing retro-painted masks and brown pads.
It was the second regular season outdoor game after the "Heritage Classic" on November 22nd, 2003 where the Edmonton Oilers played the Montreal Canadiens at the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Canada.
